Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Reports (Direct and Indirect): Clinic Head Nurse, Registered Nurse, Administrator, Health Care Worker
Purpose
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall operational, financial, clinical support, and commercial performance of the CRC. The role ensures the effective delivery of high-quality dialysis and renal healthcare services across all facilities while supporting strategic growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient outcomes.
The GM provides leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations, ensuring that facilities operate efficiently, meet quality standards, achieve financial targets, and maintain a patient-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day management of all renal care facilities and support functions.
- Ensure the efficient delivery of dialysis and related renal services across all sites.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and patient experience.
- Drive consistency and standardization of operational processes across the organization.
- Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, supplies, and infrastructure are available to support service delivery.
Clinical Support and Quality Management
- Support clinical leadership in achieving excellence in patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance frameworks, healthcare regulations, and quality standards.
- Monitor patient satisfaction, quality indicators, and clinical performance metrics.
- Facilitate continuous quality improvement initiatives across the business.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centred care.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage operational budgets and expenditure controls.
- Monitor revenue performance, profitability, and cost management initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure achievement of financial and operational targets.
- Review monthly financial reports and implement corrective actions where required.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across operations, clinical support, and administrative functions.
- Build a high-performance culture through coaching, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and talent development.
- Foster an environment of collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation (BCEA, LRA etc.) and organizational HR policies.
Business Development and Growth
- Support the implementation of business growth and expansion strategies.
- Identify opportunities to increase patient volumes and enhance service offerings.
- Build and maintain relationships with nephrologists, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and medical funders.
- Support the establishment of new dialysis clinics and service expansion initiatives.
- Contribute to market analysis and business planning activities.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Engage with healthcare providers, medical schemes, regulators, suppliers, and community partners.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, networking events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Ensure elevated levels of customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with healthcare legislation, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Monitor and mitigate operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks.
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.
- Ensure business continuity and risk management plans are maintained and evaluated.
- Promote ethical conduct and good corporate governance practices.
Strategic Execution
- Translate organizational strategy into actionable operational plans.
- Drive performance against strategic objectives and key business priorities.
- Monitor industry trends and recommend opportunities for innovation and service improvements.
- Support organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years' management experience within the healthcare sector.
- At least 5 years' experience in a senior operational leadership role.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Experience in renal care, dialysis services, hospital management, or specialized healthcare operations.
- Professional healthcare management qualification.
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience managing multi-site healthcare operations.
