Job description

Job title: General Manager – Mincon SA

Department: General

Reports to: VP Business Development – Africa Region

Job purpose: To oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s operations, ensuring alignment with Mincon Group’s global strategy, driving growth within the drilling and mining solutions market, and strengthening Mincon SA’s position as a leading provider of innovative, high-performance equipment and services in the Africa region.

Internal Stakeholders:

  • All department heads (for overall coordination and management)
  • Senior management and board of directors (for strategic direction and reporting)
  • Operations and HR teams (for manpower and operational management)

External Stakeholders:

  • Clients and partners (for relationship management and business development)
  • Government bodies (for compliance and regulatory matters)
  • Suppliers and contractors (for project execution and procurement)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all operational aspects of the mining business, including production, staffing, and safety.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Drive business development and market expansion for Mincon’s drilling, tooling, and mining solutions across the Africa region, ensuring competitiveness, customer satisfaction, and alignment with Mincon Group standards and innovation goals.
  • Drive innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric delivery in line with Mincon’s global standards.
  • Promote Mincon products and services, enhancing market share across the Africa region.
  • Ensure alignment of Mincon SA operations with Mincon Group plc’s global mining and drilling solutions strategy.
  • Monitor and report on business performance against set objectives.
  • Manage senior leadership and provide strategic direction for the company.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and government agencies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10-15+ years of senior leadership experience in mining, drilling, tooling, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience managing cross-border operations in Africa.
  • Proven P&L accountability.
  • direct experience in drilling consumables, tooling, rock drilling, or mining equipment, manufacturing.
  • OEM experience, contract mining experience, or distribution/business development experience.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at board, customer, and workforce levels.

  • Proven P&L accountability.

  • Ability to align local execution with a global corporate strategy.

  • Experience with the Africa region markets.

  • Demonstrated success in improving profitability, operational efficiency, and customer retention.

  • Track record of turnarounds, growth, or scaling.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving.

  • Expertise in mining operations and industry regulations.
