GLAZING TECHNICIAN

SALARY: MARKET RELATED (NEGOTIABLE)

Purpose: The Glazing Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of aluminium windows, doors, shopfronts, curtain walls, glazing systems, and related building components. The successful candidate will ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards**.**

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Trade Test Certificate in Glazing
• Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
• Proven practical experience as a Glazing Technician, Glazier or similar position.
• Experience in glass installation, replacement, repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to measure, cut and install glass accurately.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and measurements.
• Knowledge of glazing materials, aluminium framing systems, sealants and related components.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
• Ability and willingness to work at heights where required.
• Ability to use hand and power tools associated with glazing work.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual construction activities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Willingness to work at different project sites when required.
• Valid driver's licence.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

· Installing, repairing and replacing glass in windows, doors, shopfronts, partitions, façades and other building structures.

· Measuring and marking glass accurately according to drawings and site requirements.

· Cutting, fitting and installing different types and thicknesses of glass.

· Installing aluminium frames, glazing beads, gaskets, seals and associated components.

· Removing damaged or broken glass safely and preparing surfaces for replacement.

· Applying glazing compounds, silicone, sealants and weatherproofing materials.

· Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and measurements.

· Inspecting glazing installations and identifying defects, damage or maintenance requirements.

· Conducting repairs and preventative maintenance on existing glazing systems.

· Ensuring completed glazing work meets required quality and workmanship standards.

· Using glazing tools, equipment and machinery safely and correctly.

· Working safely at heights where required and using appropriate access equipment.

· Complying with occupational health and safety requirements, site rules and company procedures.
