Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The Global Bid Manager is responsible for leading and managing the complete lifecycle of strategic local, regional, pan-African, and global bid opportunities across Vodacom and Vodafone partner markets. The role ensures the delivery of compliant, commercially viable, competitive, and customer-focused proposals that support revenue growth, profitability, and strategic objectives.
The incumbent coordinates cross-functional teams across Sales, Solutions, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Product, Technology, Procurement, and Vodafone affiliates to develop winning proposals and secure major enterprise contracts.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Bid Leadership
- Lead large, complex, multi-country bid opportunities.
- Qualify opportunities and determine bid/no-bid recommendations.
- Develop and execute winning bid strategies.
- Align customer requirements with Vodacom's strategic solutions and capabilities.
- Drive competitive positioning against industry competitors.
- Ensure bid strategies support profitability and risk objectives.
End-to-End Bid Management
- Manage the full bid lifecycle from opportunity qualification through contract award.
- Create bid plans, timelines, milestones, and governance checkpoints.
- Coordinate all bid activities across multiple business functions.
- Ensure timely submission of all proposals, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and tenders.
- Monitor bid progress and resolve issues impacting delivery.
Proposal Development
- Manage the production of high-quality proposals.
- Ensure clear articulation of value propositions.
- Oversee executive summaries, solution narratives, and customer presentations.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
- Maintain proposal quality standards.
EDRA Governance, Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Vodacom and Vodafone EDRA governance frameworks.
- Manage legal, regulatory, commercial, and operational risks.
- Ensure all approvals are obtained prior to submission.
- Maintain bid documentation and audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with procurement and tender requirements.
Stakeholder Management

Global and Multi-Country Coordination
- Coordinate responses from multiple Vodacom and Vodafone operating companies.
- Align regional solution components into unified proposals.
- Ensure consistency in pricing, legal terms, and service delivery models.
- Support multinational customer opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive bid best practices across the organization.
- Develop reusable content repositories.
- Improve proposal quality and response efficiency.
- Conduct bid debriefs and lessons learned reviews. The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Essential
- 8-12 years ICT, telecommunications, managed services, or technology industry experience.
- 5-8 years bid management experience.
- Experience managing:

- RFIs
- Public Sector tenders
- Enterprise opportunities
Preferred
- Multi-country bid management experience.
- Vodafone/Vodacom operating model exposure.
