About Maddy’s Masterclass:

Maddy’s Masterclass is a growing online academic tutoring service providing personalised academic support to students across CAPS, IEB and Cambridge curricula. Due to continued growth and increasing student demand, we are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and reliable Mathematics & Physical Sciences Tutor for Grades 10–12 to join our tutoring team.

IMPORTANT: Applicants must be confident and competent in tutoring BOTH Mathematics AND Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) at Grades 10–12 level. Please do not apply if you are only able to tutor one of the two subjects.

The Role: The successful candidate will provide individual online tutoring to high-school students requiring support with Mathematics and Physical Sciences. You should be comfortable working with students at different academic levels from learners needing help rebuilding foundational knowledge to Grade 12 students preparing for prelims and final examinations.

The role includes helping students:

• Strengthen their understanding of core concepts
• Identify and address gaps in knowledge
• Develop effective problem-solving techniques
• Work through challenging questions step-by-step
• Prepare for tests and examinations
• Improve examination technique and time management
• Build confidence and independence in both subjects

Subject Requirements :

Mathematics

– Grades 10–12 Candidates should be confident teaching topics including:

• Algebra
• Equations and inequalities
• Exponents and surds
• Number patterns and sequences
• Functions and graphs
• Financial Mathematics
• Trigonometry
• Analytical Geometry
• Euclidean Geometry
• Statistics
• Probability
• Differential Calculus at Grade 12 level
• Examination and past-paper preparation

Physical Sciences

Grades 10–12 Candidates should be confident teaching both Physics and Chemistry, including areas such as:

• Vectors and scalars
• Motion
• Mechanics
• Newton’s Laws
• Momentum and impulse
• Work, energy and power
• Waves, sound and light
• Electricity and circuits
• Electrostatics
• Matter and materials
• Atomic structure
• Chemical bonding
• Chemical reactions and equations
• Stoichiometry
• Acids and bases
• Chemical equilibrium
• Organic Chemistry
• Electrochemistry
• Quantitative problem-solving
• Examination and past-paper preparation

Minimum Requirements Applicants must:

• Be able to confidently tutor BOTH Mathematics AND Physical Sciences from Grades 10–12
• Have excellent subject knowledge in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
• Be comfortable with Grade 12 examination-level content
• Be able to explain difficult concepts clearly and patiently
• Be comfortable conducting lessons online
• Have a reliable internet connection and suitable laptop/computer
• Be professional, organised and dependable
• Communicate effectively with students and the Maddy’s Masterclass team
• Be willing to complete brief lesson reports following lessons
• Be available for consistent weekly tutoring sessions
• Experience with CAPS and/or IEB is highly advantageous. Cambridge experience is also welcomed.

Preferred Candidates Applications are welcomed from:

• Qualified Mathematics and/or Physical Sciences teachers
• Education students specialising in Mathematics and Science
• Engineering students or graduates
• BSc students or graduates
• Mathematics or Physics students/graduates
• Experienced tutors with demonstrated Grade 10–12 Mathematics and Physical Sciences knowledge
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly advantageous.

Tutor Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct professional one-on-one online lessons
• Prepare appropriately for individual students
• Adapt lessons according to each learner's needs
• Assist with schoolwork, revision and examination preparation
• Provide additional practice where appropriate
• Keep lessons interactive and engaging
• Complete brief lesson reports after each session
• Communicate important academic concerns or progress to Maddy’s Masterclass
• Maintain reliable attendance and professional communication

Recruitment Process

Shortlisted candidates will progress through our tutor recruitment process, which may include:

2. A short recorded demonstration lesson

3. Interview or written interview questions

4. Final onboarding and documentation

The demonstration lesson allows us to assess your subject knowledge, teaching style, communication skills and ability to explain challenging concepts clearly.
