Job description
- Ensuring that the staff observe the regulations and rules of the organisation and taking action where there are violations
- Analysing existing accounting systems and financial controls to ensure their adequacy and improving them as required
- Ensuring staff compliance with the financial controls and systems
- Accurate and timeous capture of accounting data on the company’s various accounting, inventory and point of sale systems either by yourself or others
- Compilation and analysis of monthly management accounts including but not limited to variance reporting
- Production of Management Reports based on the analysis of Management Accounts for use in operational decision making
- Putting together the Annual Financial Statements in preparation for the Audit
- Oversight of the accurate and timeous processing and control of Debtors and Creditors including, but not limited to, reconciliations of statements, invoices and payments
- Ensuring that Debtors make payments on time and if not that their accounts are blocked by the 4th working day of each month
- Managing the cash-flows of the business and ensuring that he business has the cash to meet its needs at any point in time
- Developing, monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets including cash-flow forecasts
- Submitting all statutory returns including SDL, UIF and CIPC returns, Employment Equity Reports and calculating and providing for corporate taxation, PAYE, VAT and other taxes and ensuring that they are paid on time
- Evaluation of the operations of the business to see how greater efficiencies, lower expenses, greater revenues can be achieved
- Ensuring that regular stock takes are undertaken and investigating the outcome of the stock takes to establish causes of variances and taking appropriate action
- Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and calculating and providing for Depreciation monthly
- The full payroll function – calculation of salary amounts after all deductions and loading for payment
- Conducting the Human Resources function including ;payroll, managing and maintaining the leave register and employee files
- Any other responsibility that may be assigned to you from time to time
