If you are an absolute Excel wizard who loves the thrill of putting together complex puzzle pieces, this is the role you’ve been looking for.
We are expanding fast, and we need a sharp, energetic, and meticulous Group Financial Controller to join our team right here in our Cape Town office. This is an action-packed, hands-on position where you get to be the ultimate backbone of our financial operations. You won't be managing from a distance; instead, you will be the driving force tracking, reconciling, and preparing the financials across our entire global footprint.
If you get a genuine sense of satisfaction from pristine spreadsheets, flawless reconciliations, and tight internal controls, you are going to thrive here.
What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
Core Financial Operations & Group Reporting
- Manage the Full Engine: Manage the full finance operation across all group entities.
- Build & Prepare Reports: Prepare monthly management reports for the group and each company separately.
- Consolidated Reporting: Build and maintain consolidated group P&L reports, as well as P&L by company, brand, product, country, and department.
- Treasury Tracking: Manage weekly and monthly cash flow reporting and track bank balances across all companies and accounts.
- Tighten the Screws: Control supplier payments and make sure every payment is supported by an invoice, agreement, and proper approval. Manage supplier balances and outstanding debts.
- Connect the Dots: Track intercompany balances and transactions between all group entities.
- Global Coordination: Coordinate with external accountants in different jurisdictions and maintain organized finance records and supporting documents.
- Expense Monitoring: Prepare budget vs. actual reports and closely monitor payroll, marketing costs, supplier costs, and operational expenses.
- Data Room & Cleanup: Build and maintain a basic financial data room. Proactively identify missing documents, financial risks, reporting gaps, and areas that need cleanup before a potential sale.
Revenue & Payment Processor Control
- Own the Revenue: Take ownership of revenue control across multiple payment processors.
- The Ultimate Reconciliation: Reconcile CRM sales data with Stripe, PayPal, TrustPay, bank transfers, and other payment providers.
- Track Every Metric: Track gross revenue, net revenue, fees, refunds, chargebacks, failed payments, rolling reserves, pending settlements, and currency conversion differences.
- Verify the Payouts: Reconcile payment processor payouts to actual bank deposits.
- Deliver the Insights: Prepare weekly and monthly revenue reconciliation reports and report revenue by company, brand, product, country, payment provider, and bank account.
- Document Everything: Make sure all revenue is accurately recorded and supported by proper documentation.
Required Experience & Skills:
- The "Doer" Mindset: A practical, hands-on approach that is not only a management role. You are energized by doing the groundwork and building the sheets yourself.
- Multi-Entity Track Record: Experience managing finance across multiple entities and a strong understanding of intercompany transactions.
- Processor Expertise: Strong experience with payment processors and revenue reconciliation.
- Elite Spreadsheet Skills: Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills are an absolute must.
- Reporting Execution: Experience preparing management reports, consolidated P&L reports, cash flow forecasting, and budget vs. actual analysis.
- External Management: Experience working with external accountants.
- Reliability & Detail: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and very good English (both written and spoken).
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently and take ownership of your tasks.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in online businesses, performance marketing, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, or international service companies.
- Experience preparing financial data for investors, buyers, audits, or due diligence.
- Experience with multi-currency operations, international companies, and cross-border payments.
