Job description
Village n Life is looking for an experienced Group Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function across our portfolio of hotels and hospitality businesses.
This is a senior, hands-on role for an established hospitality HR professional who has already managed the HR function across multiple properties and understands the operational and people complexities that come with a seven-day hospitality business.
The Role
Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will take responsibility for consistent, commercially sound and legally compliant HR practices across the group.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and developing the Group HR team
Workforce planning, recruitment and retention
Employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievances and CCMA matters
Performance management and career development
Training and skills development
Remuneration, payroll alignment and labour-cost management
Employment Equity, Skills Development and statutory compliance
HR policies, systems, reporting and people metrics
Employee wellbeing and recognition
Advising senior and operational leaders on complex people matters
What We’re Looking For:
Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management
Minimum 7 years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in an HR management or senior HR leadership role
Proven HR management experience across multiple hotels or hospitality properties – essential
Hospitality or hotel-group HR experience – essential
Strong working knowledge of South African labour legislation including the LRA, BCEA, EEA and Skills Development legislation
Proven experience in employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievances and CCMA matters
Experience across recruitment, retention, workforce planning, performance management and training
Experience with Employment Equity, Skills Development and statutory HR reporting
Strong understanding of payroll, time and attendance and labour-cost management
Experience managing and developing an HR team
Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to advise senior leaders
Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and the ability to travel between properties
