Job description
We are looking for a commercially strong Group Sales Manager to drive profitable growth across Retail, Export markets and Foodservices for Dr. Oetker South Africa and Château Gâteaux. This role will lead customer and channel strategy, build strong relationships with retailers, distributors and foodservice partners, and work closely with Category, Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance to deliver volume, market share and margin growth. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years’ sales experience across Retail, Export and/or Foodservice channels, with proven success in revenue growth, profitability, negotiation, key customer management and leading high-performing sales teams.

Role Description:
Sales & Growth Delivery
•
Lead execution of a customer and channel strategy across
Retail, Export markets, and Foodservices
to achieve sales, market share and margin target
•
Build and manage strong relationships with retailers, key distributors, and foodservice partners (HoReCa, QSR, institutional buyers).
•
Drive customer and shopper marketing initiatives, ensuring strong brand presence in-store and in foodservice outlets.
Exports & International Expansion
•
Develop regional export strategies, aligning with market regulations and optimizing distributor partnerships.
•
Identify new market opportunities and innovation suited to export channels.
•
Ensure compliance with trade, customs, and quality standards in all markets.
Foodservices Leadership
•
Partner with major foodservice operators, tailoring pack formats, pricing and promotions to their channel needs.
•
Build customer-specific joint business plans with QSRs, hotels, and institutional buyers.
•
Understands QSR, HoReCa, and institutional procurement needs to tailor solutions accordingly
Commercial Excellence
•
Lead trade investment, pricing, and promotion strategies to maximize ROI and profitability.
•
Monitor competitor activity, customer KPIs, and channel dynamics, adjusting plans to capture growth.
•
Oversee execution excellence through key account and sales operations teams.
Innovation & Future-Readiness
•
Recommend and execute innovation opportunities (e.g., pack formats, channel activations, new categories) relevant to retail, export, and foodservice customers.
•
Leverage e-commerce and digital sales platforms to expand customer reach.
•
Drive sustainability and responsible trade practices across channels.
Leadership & People Development
•
Build, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team, ensuring equity and capability growth.
•
Lead cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure seamless execution.
•
Embed a customer-first, performance-driven culture across the sales organisation
Job Requirements:
•
Diploma / Degree in Sales, Marketing or related
•
7+ years’ experience in Sales, managing Retail, Export, and/or Foodservice channels.
•
Proven success in P&L ownership, achieving growth in revenue, distribution, and profitability.
•
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with retailers, distributors, and large-scale foodservice operators.
•
Experience in Modern and General Trade within South Africa and exposure to cross-border export markets.
•
Ability to align teams around ambitious goals, with a track record of delivering execution excellence.
•
Future-focused mindset: strong understanding of digital commerce, data-driven sales intelligence, and sustainability trends.
