GUIDE COUPLE
Exclusive Reserve | Eastern Cape
Geran Ellish Recruitment is seeking an experienced, professional Guide Couple for an exceptional Reserve with a portfolio of luxury lodges in the Eastern Cape.
This is an opportunity for a committed couple who share a genuine passion for guiding, conservation and delivering an exceptional guest experience within a high-end safari environment.
THE ROLE
Both candidates will be responsible for delivering outstanding guiding experiences to international and local guests while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism and hospitality.
The successful couple must be confident working independently, interacting with discerning guests and contributing positively to the overall lodge operation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 3–5 years’ proven guiding experience within high-end/luxury safari lodges.
- Minimum NQF Level 4 for both candidates.
- Backup Trails Guide qualification for both candidates.
- All guiding-related qualifications must be current, valid and in good standing.
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Valid PrDP where required for the position.
- Strong knowledge of Eastern Cape fauna, flora and ecology would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent general wildlife knowledge and interpretation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to confidently host and interact with high-end, international guests.
- Good firearm handling and relevant legal/operational qualifications where applicable.
- Excellent knowledge of guiding safety procedures and responsible wildlife viewing.
EXPERIENCE & EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
The Reserve is looking for candidates with a stable and credible employment history.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated:
- Long-term commitment to previous employers.
- Consistency within luxury lodge environments.
- Professional progression within the guiding industry.
- A genuine career in guiding rather than frequent movement between properties.
Written references are compulsory and must be supplied from previous employers. References must be verifiable and should clearly confirm the candidate's guiding ability, professionalism, guest interaction, reliability and length of service.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The successful couple should be:
- Passionate about wildlife and conservation.
- Mature, professional and emotionally intelligent.
- Guest-focused and naturally hospitable.
- Confident but not overbearing.
- Excellent communicators.
- Team players who work well with lodge management and other guides.
- Adaptable and able to work in a remote lodge environment.
- Safety-conscious with sound judgement.
- Enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with guests.
- Respectful of lodge standards, management structures and colleagues.
- Looking for a long-term opportunity, rather than a short-term position.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This is not an entry-level guiding position.
The ideal couple will already have a proven track record within high-end safari lodges, possess the required qualifications and demonstrate the maturity and experience necessary to operate at a premium guest-experience level.
Both candidates must independently meet the core guiding requirements.
To apply: email your CV, all relevant Guiding qualifications and two written references each to:
