Hair Stylist Lecturer
Location:Gauteng, Pretoria
Position Type: Lecturer / Skills Facilitator
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Hair Stylist Lecturer to join Afrotex Hair Academy. The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of braiding, hair relaxing, hair treatments, installation of hair pieces as well as weaving(sew-in) products and general hair care, with the ability to teach and guide students from beginner to intermediate level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical and theoretical hairdressing lessons.
- Teach students various braiding techniques and styles, including basic and advanced braiding.
- Train students in hair relaxing techniques, including correct product application, processing and aftercare.
- Demonstrate professional hair treatments, including deep conditioning, protein treatments and hair/scalp care.
- Train students how to install hair piece, weaving products using necessary tools.
- Teach students how to assess hair and scalp conditions and recommend suitable treatments.
- Demonstrate correct use of hairdressing tools, products and equipment.
- Provide step-by-step practical demonstrations and supervise students during hands-on training.
- Maintain a professional and supportive learning environment.
- Assess students' practical skills and provide constructive feedback. Keep up to date with current hair trends, techniques and industry practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Hair Stylist, Hairdresser, Braider or Hair Educator.
- Strong practical knowledge of braids, relaxers and hair treatments.
- Excellent understanding of hair care, hair health and product usage.
- Previous teaching, training or facilitation experience will be an advantage.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Patient, confident and passionate about developing students' skills.
- Ability to demonstrate techniques clearly and work with students at different skill levels.
A relevant hairdressing qualification or industry certification will be advantageous. Salary/Remuneration Negotiable based on the applicant’s qualification/certifications and work experience.
