Job description
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and skilled Handyman / Property Maintenance Worker to join our team based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general property maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across residential and commercial properties while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in general maintenance and be able to work independently across a variety of repair and maintenance tasks. A valid driver's licence is essential, as travel between properties may be required using a company vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general property maintenance and repair work
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and tiling repairs where required
- Repair doors, locks, windows, cupboards, and other fixtures
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Replace light fittings, taps, and other basic fittings
- Assist with garden and exterior maintenance when required
- Ensure properties are well-maintained and presented to a high standard
- Identify maintenance issues and report larger repairs when necessary
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Complete maintenance tasks efficiently while following health and safety procedures
- Travel between properties as required using a company vehicle
Requirements
- Must reside in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town
- Valid South African Driver's Licence
- Previous experience in property maintenance or as a handyman is essential
- Good knowledge of general building maintenance
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general repairs
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour
- Honest, reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Good communication skills
