Head of Collections

International fintech company. We are launching our business in South Africa. Our philosophy: every manager is a playing coach – you actively collect, train the team, and handle the hardest cases.

We are searching for a visionary professional to spearhead our debt collection infrastructure from its infancy in South Africa. This role is designed for a person who will transition into a key operational leadership position as the company matures.

Launch and growth responsibilities:

• Building the foundation: designing and launching all collection processes from scratch, including selecting tools and communication channels.
• Establishing standards: developing internal policies that fully comply with local lending laws and the privacy protection requirements for South African citizens.
• Automation and scaling: implementing technology solutions for data processing and debt management that support rapid portfolio growth.
• Performance management: monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), optimizing repayment strategies, and directly impacting the company’s profitability.
• Strategic planning: evolving from setting up linear processes to full operational leadership (Operations Head) as the project scales.

Requirements:

• A deep understanding of how lending and debt recovery regulations work in South Africa.
• Excellent knowledge of legal standards for handling customers’ personal data and compliance with debt collection ethics.
• Experience building departments or systems in finance/fintech from scratch.
