Job description
Are you a commercially minded operations leader with a passion for data, systems and building high-performing teams? Join our Commercial team as Head of Revenue Operations in Stellenbosch, where you'll build and lead the function that powers Herotel's entire commercial line with the systems, data, insights and tools it needs to perform.
This role is ideal for a strategic yet hands-on operator who thrives on turning complexity into clarity, building capability from the ground up, and making commercial performance measurable, predictable and improvable.
What you'll do:
- Build and lead the Revenue Operations function from the ground up, including appointing and developing a team of capability leads spanning business analysis, UX/UI design, front-end development, commercial systems development and project management
- Set direction, priorities and performance standards for the team, and remain fully accountable for the outputs it delivers
- Own and run all commercial systems and tooling end to end, including the customer relationship platform and the full commercial technology stack
- Lead the delivery of new commercial systems across sales, customer experience, marketing and the business development pipeline, with the CCO as accountable sponsor
- Own commercial data and maintain a single, governed source of truth that every commercial function works from
- Set and enforce data quality standards and own attribution rules, including the national-to-regional seam, ensuring every win is counted once
- Own the commercial forecast and the analytics behind it, including net additions, average revenue per user, churn, take-up against build and cost of acquisition against benchmark
- Build and maintain the reporting and dashboards that show daily and monthly whether the commercial line is on plan, and surface gaps early enough to act
- Support Sales, Marketing, Product and Customer Experience with the tools, systems and enablement that lift productivity
- Drive priority commercial projects from clear definition through to delivery, and run the review cadence that commercial leadership uses to manage performance
- Identify and scope automation opportunities across the commercial line, package them for the automation team, and project-manage delivery to grow coverage and conversion
- Work closely with Finance on billing and ensure commercial and financial data stays aligned
What you'll need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience advantageous
- 5 to 8 years of senior experience leading a revenue operations, commercial operations or sales operations function
- At least 3 years with direct ownership of a CRM or commercial systems platform
- Experience within telecommunications, internet services, subscription or high-volume consumer businesses strongly preferred
- Hands-on command of commercial systems, including customer relationship platforms and the data and tooling around them
- Proven experience managing and implementing business systems from selection and deployment through to ongoing operation
- Strong forecasting and analytical capability, fluent in core commercial metrics including average revenue per user, cost of acquisition, churn and take-up
- Proven track record of delivering cross-functional commercial projects to completion
- Strong leadership and people management, with experience appointing, developing and leading specialist teams across a wide skills span
- Strong systems and process thinking, analytical rigour and a high ownership mindset with the discipline to hold the line on data quality
- Ability to influence across functions without direct authority, with clear communication to executive audiences and a consistent bias to action and follow-through
