Head of Risk

This role is a perfect fit for a Senior specialist looking to grow into a Head of Risk position, or for a current risk leader who enjoys building processes from scratch and isn't afraid to work hands-on with data and models.

Key responsibilities:
Developing and implementing credit policy and portfolio management strategy for the PDL product.
Leading the risk team working on the project.
Building a risk reporting and portfolio quality monitoring system from the ground up.
Developing, implementing, and optimizing scoring cards and decision-making models.
Setting up anti-fraud strategies and selecting data providers.
Participating in product P&L management through optimizing approval and loss rates, with responsibility for the product's LTV.
Collaborating with the operations office in Cape Town to calibrate collection and verification processes.

Requirements:
5+ years of experience in risk management (PDL / Installment / Consumer Finance).
Preferred: experience in the African market (ideally South Africa). Understanding of local data specifics, credit bureaus, and local borrower behavior.
Having ready-made developments or models for a quick launch in South Africa will be a huge advantage.
Strong knowledge of SQL, Python (basic level for data analysis), and risk reporting tools.
Experience building scoring models (logistic regression, decision trees, etc.).
Willingness to work in a startup mode and independently handle operational tasks.
