Head of Supply Chain Operations

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Supply Chain - Operations to lead and oversee the performance of our Distribution Centre (DC) network across the country.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that all Distribution Centres operate safely, efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with agreed service levels. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction while maintaining strong operational oversight across warehousing, inventory, inbound and outbound distribution, people management, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will be a strong operational leader who can manage multiple sites, develop high-performing teams, optimise DC performance, and deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing & implementing the supply chain strategy for PEP SA, thereby ensuring our business objectives are achieved.
• Implementing best-in-class practices within the supply chain.
• Responsible for leading DCs, Projects, Supply Chain Finances, Control Tower
• Drive operational excellence across receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns.
• Ensure Distribution Centres consistently achieve agreed service levels, productivity, accuracy, and cost targets .
• Manage and optimise warehouse capacity, labour utilisation, equipment, systems, and processes .
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
• Order fulfilment and on-time dispatch
• Inventory accuracy
• Picking and packing accuracy
• Productivity and labour efficiency
• Warehouse utilisation
• Distribution costs
• Customer service levels
• Lead and develop DC management teams, ensuring strong accountability, performance management, succession planning, and talent development.
• Promote a strong health, safety, quality, and compliance culture across the national DC network.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including , process optimisation, automation, and warehouse technology where appropriate.
• Partner closely with Transport, Procurement, Sales, Finance, IT, and other business functions to optimise the end-to-end supply chain.
• Ensure effective inventory management and minimise stock losses, damages, write-offs, and operational waste .
• Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs while maintaining or improving service levels.
• Oversee Distribution Centre budgets, forecasting, expenditure, and financial performance.
• Ensure all sites comply with relevant legislation, company policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements.
• Provide regular performance reporting and actionable insights to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related discipline .
• 8–10+ years' experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
• Proven experience managing multiple Distribution Centres or large-scale warehouse operations .
• Demonstrated experience leading senior operational teams across geographically dispersed sites.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory management, and distribution processes .
• Proven track record of improving productivity, service levels, operational efficiency, and cost performance.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience managing operational budgets.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability and willingness to travel nationally between Distribution Centres.
