Job description

Role Purpose

The purpose of a Head Retail Partnerships is to define and drive the commercial partnership strategy for Retail Media by identifying, structuring, and closing high-value retail partnerships, translating data and media capabilities into scalable revenue opportunities, and establishing long-term enterprise relationships that enable market expansion and sustained commercial growth.

Role Description

Commercial Strategy & Partnership Development

  • Determine and drive the partnerships strategy in alignment with Retail Media and broader business objectives
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritise new retail and non-endemic partnership opportunities
  • Translate strategic product and data capabilities into commercially viable partnership models
  • Establish go-to-market propositions that enable revenue growth and market expansion

End-to-End Commercial Ownership

  • Lead the full commercial lifecycle from pipeline development to deal closure
  • Structure, negotiate, and conclude complex commercial agreements and revenue-share frameworks
  • Oversee partnership financial performance, ensuring revenue realisation and profitability
  • Govern commercial terms, ensuring alignment with business risk, legal, and compliance requirements

Relationship & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build, influence, and maintain strategic relationships with C-suite and senior external stakeholders
  • Act as the senior interface between Retail Media and enterprise retail partners
  • Align internal stakeholders (product, data, marketing, legal) to enable successful partnership execution
  • Represent the organisation in high-level negotiations and industry engagements

Commercial Design & Value Realisation

  • Architect scalable partnership models, joint business plans, and monetisation frameworks
  • Translate data, analytics, and media capabilities into clear commercial value propositions
  • Drive adoption of first-party data and retail media solutions across partners and clients
  • Enable closed-loop measurement and performance-led commercial outcomes

Market Growth & Innovation

  • Monitor industry trends in retail media, adtech, and data monetisation
  • Recommend and implement innovative partnership models and revenue streams
  • Position Retail Media as a preferred partner for external retailers and brands
  • Expand into new categories (e.g., financial services, automotive, insurance, travel)

Governance, Performance & Delivery

  • Review partnership performance against commercial targets and strategic objectives
  • Establish and track key metrics, pipeline health, and deal conversion rates
  • Ensure delivery excellence across multiple complex partnership initiatives
  • Support continuous improvement of partnership frameworks and processes

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Media or related (essential)
  • Postgraduate degree in related field (advantageous)
  • +8 years' experience in Commercial partnerships, Business development, Retail media, digital media, adtech environments or similar environments (essential)
  • Demonstrated capability in commercialising products, platforms, or data solutions (essential)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Retail media and commerce media ecosystems
    • Programmatic advertising and data monetisation
