Head Risk Officer

An established, diversified South African group is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Risk to lead its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. This executive leadership opportunity is ideal for a strategic professional who is passionate about building resilient organisations, embedding a strong risk culture, and partnering with executive leadership to drive sustainable business success.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across Enterprise Risk Management, Governance, Compliance, Business Continuity, Insurance, and Operational Risk. You will serve as a trusted advisor to Executive Management and Board Committees, ensuring that enterprise-wide risks are proactively identified, managed and monitored.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategy.
• Drive enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment and mitigation.
• Lead governance, compliance and regulatory risk management.
• Oversee Business Continuity Management and organisational resilience.
• Manage insurance, claims and asset protection strategies.
• Present enterprise risk reports to Executive and Board Committees.
• Foster a strong organisational risk culture through leadership and capability development.
• Ensure alignment with corporate governance principles, legislation and industry best practice.

Minimum Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Finance, Accounting, Law or Governance.
• 10–12 years' enterprise risk management experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior management or executive leadership role.
• Proven experience in:
• Enterprise Risk Management
• Governance and Compliance
• Board and Executive Committee reporting
• Business Continuity Management
• Insurance and Risk Management

Advantageous

• Master's Degree / MBA.
• Professional certifications such as:
• IRMSA
• CRMA
• CIA
• CA(SA)
• Certified Risk Management Professional
• Experience within financial services, fleet, transport, leasing or other asset-intensive industries.
