Department University of Venda -> Vice Chancellor and Principal -> Corporate Services -> Human Resources Job Title HEAD: TRANSFORMATION Post Level Grade 6 Job Type Support - Univen Funded Closing Date 31/7/2026 Job Requirements Honours Degree or equivalent (NQF level 8) in HR, Psychology, Social Science or related. At least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, three (3) of which should be at the management level. Professional body registration and a master’s degree will serve as an added advantage.

Duties

  • Preparing reports, proposals, and other documents for submission to EMC. SMC, IF, Senate, HRC, EXCO and Council.
  • Assuming the overall responsibility for preparing for the Annual Transformation Report and the bi-annual Social Inclusion reports to DHET.
  • Playing a lead role in the development and implementation of the Unit’s transformation strategy and operating plan
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of institutional transformation governance structures, including the Employment Equity Forum, Institutional Transformation Committee, and Gender Equity Advisory Committee (GEAC).
  • Lead institutional culture and transformation initiatives
  • Coordinate the institutional culture survey and assessments
  • Regularly conduct the focus groups to measure the institutional culture
  • Develop and implement the culture improvement plans
  • Manage and execute transformational change management strategies and processes
  • Leverage diversity experience and mentoring capabilities to increase cultural dexterity in the institution
  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the Employment Equity Plan
  • Conduct workforce profile analysis and monitor progress towards EE sector targets
  • Ensure compliance with EE Act and other applicable legislation
  • Drive diversity, equity, inclusion, and disability inclusion initiatives across the institution.
  • Monitor the institutional barriers affecting designated groups and recommend the corrective interventions
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Gender Desk.
  • Lead the implementation of gender equality, GBV, and social inclusion strategies.
  • Provide strategic oversight of survivor support systems, referral pathways, case management processes, and stakeholder partnerships to ensure a coordinated institutional response to GBV
  • Drive awareness, advocacy, and culture change programmes.
  • Ensure monitoring and evaluation of progress in terms of institutional plans, such as the Institutional Transformation Plan and the Employment Equity Plan, for compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the revision of these plans when the cycle period is over.

  • Manage staff responsible for the Culture, Diversity and Inclusion focus area.
  • Oversee general management of the Unit.
  • Responsible for the Budget and financial management of the Unit.
  • Research to stay abreast of developments in the field of transformation in the South African context, with special focus on Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Benchmarking with other institutions nationally and internationally to ensure the Institution responds effectively to the Higher Education Transformation Agenda.
