Role Description The Health and Safety Consultant is a full-time role based in Johannesburg with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site client visits and some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing workplace risks, developing and implementing tailored health and safety systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards. The role involves conducting site inspections and audits, preparing reports and recommendations, and supporting clients in closing out corrective actions. The consultant will deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions, while advising on appropriate PPE, safety signage, and emergency equipment. Collaboration with project teams, ongoing monitoring of safety performance, and continuous improvement of client safety management systems are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge and practical experience in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to apply regulations and best practices in diverse work environments.
• Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
• Relevant professional certification such as NEBOSH or equivalent, and familiarity with recognized safety standards and frameworks.
• Demonstrated capability in designing and delivering Training on health, safety, and EHS topics to a range of audiences.
• Strong analytical, report-writing, and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple client projects, and build constructive relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience in consulting or in a safety-focused role within construction, industrial, or related sectors is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites in and around Johannesburg as required.
