WE ARE HIRING – HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

SM Family Group is seeking a qualified and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our team in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Position: Health & Safety OfficerLocations: Cape Town & JohannesburgEmployment Type: Full-time

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Officer.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant health and safety regulations.
• Valid Health & Safety Officer qualification.
• First Aid Level 1 certificate (advantageous).
• Fire Fighting certificate (advantageous).
• Risk Assessment training (advantageous).
• Incident Investigation training (advantageous).
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong report-writing, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel to client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct workplace inspections and risk assessments.
• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks.
• Maintain health and safety records and documentation.
• Prepare client-specific Health & Safety Files.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Promote a strong safety culture across all company operations.
