Health Safety and Quality Manager
This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-quality working environment that supports the organization's operational and strategic objectives by enforcing compliance with all statutory HSQ “Health, Safety and Quality” requirements both nationally and internationally, and to implement ISO procedures and maintain adherence thereto ensuring continuous certification.

- Strong knowledge of international HSEQ regulations and practices in chemicals and food ingredients, and experience in working with regulatory bodies and industry associations.
- Experience in auditing chemical companies

- Drive and positive energy in a high pressure environment
- Pro-active and hands-on mentality, with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The position is responsible for:
2.1 Develop and Implement Policies
Create and enforce policies and procedures related to health, safety and quality regulatory compliance. Ensure these policies align with both local and international standards.
2.2 Health and Safety Risk Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with workplace safety, and quality control, by assuming responsibility for the following:-
2.2.1 Implement and maintain emergency response plans.
2.2.2 Coordinate monthly health & safety checklists.
2.2.3 Coordinate annual PPE Ordering and managing PPE.
2.2.4 Management of contractors.
2.2.5 Manage and maintain safety equipment at all offices.
2.2.6 Conduct annual fire drills.
2.3 Quality management
2.3.1 Maintain and control NCR review by leading the internal audit team.
2.3.2 Set up an annual audit plan
2.3.3 Manage and maintain ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
2.3.4 Review Monthly credit notes.
2.3.5 Collaborate with any other quality stake holders.
2.3.6 Conduct annual mock recall.
2.4 General HSQ Management
2.4.1 Comply to all Group HSQ requirements.
2.4.2 Comply with all local and or international HSQ regulations.
2.4.3 Conduct annual HSQ risk assessment.
2.4.4 Maintain and update all relevant HSQ legislative and regulated requirements.
2.4.5 Conduct HSQ Annual Plan.
2.4.6 Conduct HSQ audits at all 3rd party services providers.
2.4.7 Updating and distribute monthly HSEQ newsletters.
2.4.8 Facilitate supplier or customer audits.
2.4.9 Manage and facilitate quality questionnaires.
2.4.10 Ensure all 3rd party services providers is compliance with all HSQ requirements.
2.4.11 Conduct HSQ Induction training.
2.5 Compliance Monitoring
Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Prepare for and manage inspections, audits, and certifications.
2.6 Training and Awareness
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about safety practices, health protocols, environmental responsibilities, and quality standards. Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
2.7 Incident Management
Investigate and manage workplace incidents and accidents. Analyse root causes, implement corrective actions, and track performance metrics to prevent future occurrences. Where necessary submit all claims to the Compensation Commissioner.
2.8 Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, health, and quality. Utilize data and feedback to enhance processes and procedures.
2.9 Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety, health, and quality matters. Prepare and present reports to management and regulatory bodies.
2.10 Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, external auditors, and other stakeholders regarding SHQ matters. Communicate effectively to ensure understanding and compliance.
2.11 Backup & Support
Support and backup any projects which ERS is engaged in.
Expected Qualification/Education:
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or equivalent with a current ISO9001:2005 Audit Certification.
Work Experience:
More than 5 years of relevant HSEQ experience.
Primary Job Location:
275 Oak Avenue, Ferndale, Randburg.
Travel:
Must have the flexibility to travel locally and regionally as required occasionally.
