Holiday Childcare Professional

Employment Type: Seasonal Contract (November–January peak season, with potential for extension)

About the Role

Pause and Play is seeking an exceptional Travel Childcare Specialist to provide premium, professional childcare for international families visiting Cape Town during peak season. You will care for children in luxury villas, hotels, and guest houses while their parents enjoy a well-deserved holiday. This is not a typical nanny role—you are a brand ambassador responsible for delivering a five-star experience that gives parents complete peace of mind.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare and Supervision

· Provide attentive, nurturing care for children aged 0–12 years.

· Adapt to different environments (villas, hotels, outdoor settings) with ease.

· Manage daily routines including meals, naps, bath time, and bedtime.

· Comfort children who may be unsettled in an unfamiliar environment.

Activity Planning and Engagement

· Design age-appropriate activities that are fun and stimulating.

· Lead arts and crafts, games, storytelling, and outdoor play.

· Ensure children are entertained without relying on screens.

· Create a warm, engaging atmosphere that feels like home.

Safety and Wellbeing

· Maintain constant supervision, never leave children unattended.

· Follow parents' safety guidelines and routines precisely.

· Administer Paediatric First Aid if required.

· Report any incidents or concerns immediately to parents and management.

Communication and Professionalism

· Provide warm, professional handovers at the start and end of each shift.

· Send daily updates to parents (photos, activities, mood) via WhatsApp.

· Represent Pause and Play with polish, punctuality, and discretion.

· Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all families.

Equipment and Logistics

· Set up and pack away activity materials at each location.

· Assist with equipment hire (cots, prams, car seats) if required.

· Manage your own transport to venues across Cape Town.

Essential Requirements

· ECD certificate, teaching diploma, or paediatric nursing qualification.

· Minimum 2 years working with children in a professional capacity.

· Valid Paediatric First Aid certification.

· Valid Police Clearance Certificate.

· Fluent in English (additional languages a bonus).

· Reliable transport to venues across Cape Town.

· Available on weekends, evenings, and public holidays.

· Warm, patient, reliable, adaptable, and professional.

Desirable Requirements

· Valid driver's license and own vehicle.

· Previous travel childcare or au pair experience.
