Job description
Locum Home Based/Care Givers needed in Cape Town, Western Cape and surrounding areas.
Requirements for Home-base Care Givers:
Must have Matric/equivalent NQF Level certificate
Must be in possession of a basic SETA Accredited Home-Based Care qualification
Must have Hepatitis B Certificate
Able to communicate (verbal and written) in at least two official languages of the Western Cape
Must be physically fit for purpose i.e. able to lift clients
Must have previous experience in care for intellectual disabled frail care and residential care
Must not have been declared unsuitable to work with children in terms of the Child Care Act 38 of 2005 i.e. must not be listed in part B of the National Child Protection Register.
Must not have a record of violence, neglect or abuse of persons
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full-time supervision of all residents on a 24-hour basis
- Follow and strictly adhere to the structured daily program of the facility
- Provide physical and hygiene care to all residents including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, basic hair care and changing of nappies
- Feeding of residents including dishing of meals, feeding, feeding supplements, tube feeding and preparation of milk supplements for tube feeding
- Assist with neatness of cupboards and cleanliness of assistive devices
- Assist cleaners with medical waste clearing from units
- Seating and positioning of residents according to prescribed assistive devices
- Turning of residents according to prescribed time frames
- Facilitate daily stimulation programs
- Facilitate and maintain a caring, therapeutic environment for residents
- Actively communicate with clients to assess needs
- Participate in in-service training sessions
- Assist with self help activites
- Manage input and output of residence
- Communicate with residents in an appropriate manner
- Report all reportable incidents in the prescribed manner
- Assist with folding and packing of washing
