Children's Ages:

• 8 year old (Cambridge Stage 2): Has not been formally diagnosed with any neurodiverse needs. is currently receiving occupational therapy, with the current intervention period nearing completion, followed by a reassessment. She is also receiving ongoing speech therapy. An educational psychologist assessed her in December last year and identified some developmental and academic areas requiring additional support. A further assessment is planned this year to measure her progress and identify any remaining areas of need. She would benefit from a teacher who is energetic, patient and able to provide individual attention. She responds well to encouragement and affection, while also requiring structure, routine and firm boundaries. The focus should be on supporting her independence and confidence, rather than completing tasks for her, while ensuring that she remains actively involved in and responsible for her own academic work.
• 13 Year old (Cambridge Stage 7): He has no known learning difficulties and does not currently require therapy or additional learning support.
• 17 year old (Cambridge IGCSE): She has had a more complicated educational journey. In the past she was diagnosed/labelled with autism, amongst other concerns. Last year I had her reassessed by a psychologist, who indicated that she did not agree with the previous autism diagnosis. Since we stopped defining her according to that label and changed our approach to focus on her abilities and actual support needs, we have seen significant improvement in her confidence and academic functioning. She is currently approximately two stages behind where she would ordinarily be for her age and is now in Cambridge IGCSE, with the intention that she works towards her formal examinations next year. She has some dyslexic-type difficulties, and we enrolled her in a specialised programme to assist with this. This has resulted in major improvement.

Duties: Manage and oversee the children’s homeschooling programme from A–Z using the Think Digital Academy platform, including planning and structuring daily and weekly academic schedules, teaching and providing additional academic support, assisting with assignments, projects and assessments, monitoring academic progress and deadlines, preparing for examinations, maintaining academic records and portfolios, and providing regular feedback to the parents. The role will also involve coordinating curriculum-related and extracurricular activities, assisting with the children’s daily schedules, transporting them to sports, extracurricular activities and appointments, and maintaining the required annual homeschool files, reports, portfolios and supporting documentation.

Special Requirements: The family is looking for an experienced, organised and proactive teacher or academic facilitator who is confident working across multiple educational stages. Strong knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum is essential, with experience in the senior Cambridge phases particularly important. Experience with Think Digital Academy and online/homeschool education would be advantageous. The candidate must be patient, responsible, professional and comfortable working independently with children across different age groups. A valid South African driver’s license and confidence driving children are essential.

Start Date & Contract Term: ASAP - permanent

Salary: R19 000 – R20 000 per month (Gross, before deductions) + SARS Rates per km (R4.95) if any driving is required within working hours.
