Race Coast is seeking a Horticulturist who will be responsible for planning, maintaining, and enhancing the aesthetic, environmental, and functional quality of landscaped areas and gardens across all Race Coast KZN facilities. The successful candidate will ensure healthy plant growth, soil management, pest control, and sustainable horticultural practices, supporting the organization’s commitment to clean, safe, and appealing environments.

Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of practical horticultural experience, preferably in a public or corporate estate environment.

What You'll Do

Landscape Design G Implementation

· Design and implement planting schemes in line with site aesthetics and functionality.

· Develop seasonal and event-specific garden plans.

Garden and Plant Maintenance

· Supervise and execute tasks related to weeding, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and pest control.

· Ensure lawns, trees, and flower beds are healthy and well-maintained.

Soil and Fertility Management

· Conduct regular soil tests and improve soil health through composting, mulching, and fertilisation

Environmental Sustainability

· Promote eco-friendly horticultural practices (e.g. water-wise gardening, organic pest control).

Staff Supervision and Training

· Guide and train general workers/gardeners on horticultural practices.

· Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance.

Maintenance of Tools and Equipment

· Ensure proper care and maintenance of gardening tools and machinery.

Health and Safety Compliance

· Adhere to safety standards in the use of chemicals and machinery.

· Report hazards and incidents promptly.

What You’ll Need

· National Diploma in Horticulture / Landscaping / Plant Science or equivalent.

· 3- 5 years of practical horticultural experience, preferably in a public or corporate estate environment**.**
