Role: Host/ess
Location: Workshop17 - 32 Kloof Street
Benefits: Medical Aid and Provident Fund
Remuneration: R10,000.00 - R11,500.00 Basic Salary
Job brief As Host/Hostess, you are at the heart of the member and guest experience at Workshop17 32 Kloof Street. You will be responsible for creating a warm, professional and memorable experience from the moment members and guests arrive.
This is a hospitality-focused role that combines front-of-house hosting, community support, administration and operational coordination. You will build relationships with members, anticipate their needs, take ownership of queries and ensure the location consistently delivers a high standard of service.
General Scope Of Work Reception & Hosting
- Manage the reception and front-of-house experience, creating a warm, professional and welcoming environment.
- Greet and engage with members, guests and visitors and build positive relationships with regular members.
- Act as the first point of contact, assisting with enquiries, calls and general requests.
- Maintain a polished reception area and proactively assist members and guests throughout the day.
Community Management Support
- Support member onboarding, offboarding and general member needs.
- Conduct daily space checks and assist with access, parking and location-related queries.
- Support members with the my.w17 platform and take ownership of queries through to resolution.
- Assist with office setups, welcome packs, customisation requirements and member top-ups.
- Support community initiatives, activations and events while contributing to a welcoming community.
Financial Administration
- Assist with daily payment tracking and debtor follow-ups.
- Assist with purchase orders, invoices and general financial administration.
- Capture leads, sales data and system updates accurately and timeously.
Operations and Facilities Support
- Assist with facilities and maintenance coordination, including logging and following up on issues.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure the workspace and facilities are clean, presentable and functioning properly.
- Monitor meeting rooms, communal areas and stock levels.
- Proactively identify and address issues before they impact the member experience.
Events & Meeting Room Support
- Manage meeting room bookings and assist with on-site events.
- Coordinate requirements such as catering, AV/IT and room layouts.
- Ensure meeting and event spaces are correctly set up and ready before guests arrive.
- Provide on-the-ground support during events and ensure spaces are returned to standard afterwards.
Client Experience
- Deliver a consistently warm, professional and memorable experience to members, guests and clients.
- Anticipate needs and provide proactive, solutions-focused support.
- Handle queries and complaints with empathy and professionalism.
- Take ownership of the client experience and follow through until matters are resolved.
- Look for opportunities to exceed expectations and create positive experiences.
Team Support
- Provide reliable day-to-day support to the location team.
- Work collaboratively to ensure a seamless member and guest experience.
- Assist with additional responsibilities during busy periods, events and operational requirements.
- Complete tasks accurately, efficiently and on time.
- Communicate proactively around member feedback, operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
Experience
- 2 years of experience in hospitality, front-of-house, customer service, guest relations or a similar service-focused role.
- Experience in coworking, hotels, events, restaurants, corporate hospitality or premium service environments is advantageous.
- Experience in a guest-facing role with a strong focus on service delivery.
- Exposure to administration or basic financial processes is beneficial.
