Position: Hot Section Chef/Line cook

Maria's Coffee Paarl is looking for a talented and motivated Hot Section Chef to take full ownership of our hot kitchen operations. If you are strong on mise en place, obsessed with consistency, and ready to work alongside a dynamic culinary team, we want to hear from you! What You’ll Do:

• Own the Hot Section: Manage daily prep and service flow for the grill, saute, pan, and sauce stations.
• Deliver Consistency: Prepare, cook, and present high-quality menu items strictly according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
• Perfect Your Prep: Maintain an immaculate, organised workstation with meticulous mise en place.
• Maintain Standards: Enforce strict kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation protocols.
• Manage Stock: Monitor section stock levels, minimise wastage, and report shortages to senior chefs.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of solid experience working directly on the hot section in a fast-paced, à la carte restaurant environment.
• Skill Set: Exceptional hot-line cooking techniques, masterful timing, and strong multitasking abilities.
• Mindset: Calm under pressure, reliable, and a highly collaborative team player.
• Availability: Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
• Transport: Reliable own transport is highly preferred.
• Qualification: A formal culinary arts certificate or diploma is an advantage but not essential if backed by strong practical experience.
