This is not an ordinary cleaning position

Ruslamere is looking for an experienced hotel housekeeper who understands the difference between a room that is simply clean and a room that is genuinely ready for a four-star guest.

We need someone who can work quickly, thoroughly and consistently, without cutting corners.

You must be able to enter a room, immediately see what is wrong, know what the finished room should look like, and complete it to standard within the required turnaround time.

The person we are looking for

You are likely to succeed in this position if you:

• Have previous housekeeping experience in a hotel, guest house, lodge or similar hospitality environment
• Understand four-star room presentation and guest expectations
• Work at a fast, steady pace while maintaining quality
• Have an exceptional eye for detail
• Notice marks, dust, hair, damaged items, missing amenities and poor presentation without being told
• Know how to make beds and present bathrooms and guest rooms professionally
• Follow checklists and standard operating procedures accurately
• Take pride in delivering a room that is ready to be inspected
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet and using stairs
• Are reliable, punctual, honest and able to work as part of a team
• Can work weekends, public holidays and shifts when required

Key responsibilities

• Clean and prepare hotel bedrooms and bathrooms to Ruslamere’s four-star standard
• Make beds and present linen, pillows and room furnishings correctly
• Clean guest rooms within the required turnaround time
• Replenish guest amenities and ensure that nothing is missing
• Clean public areas, toilets, conference venues and other assigned areas
• Identify and report maintenance problems, breakages, damage and missing items immediately
• Handle linen, equipment and guest property responsibly
• Follow daily room allocations, cleaning procedures and inspection checklists
• Assist with deep-cleaning projects when required
• Ensure that every completed room is clean, fresh, correctly stocked and ready for occupancy

Minimum requirements

• At least two years’ hotel or hospitality housekeeping experience
• Contactable references from a previous employer
• Good understanding of professional hotel-room cleaning
• Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality
• Reliable transport to Durbanville or the ability to arrive for early shifts
• Basic spoken and written English
• South African ID or valid documentation permitting employment in South Africa

Important

This role is not suitable for someone whose experience is limited to domestic cleaning.

Hotel housekeeping requires speed, consistency, room presentation, adherence to standards and the ability to prepare multiple rooms within strict deadlines.
