We are seeking an experienced and hands on Hotel Maintenance Manager to support the Chief Engineer in overseeing all hotel maintenance operations. This newly created role plays a vital part in ensuring that every aspect of our infrastructure operates safely, efficiently and at world class standards.
What We Are Looking For
National Diploma or Trade Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Building Services Red Seal preferred
Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in hotels, facilities or building maintenance
Minimum 3 years experience in a managerial or supervisory role
Strong experience in hotel, hospital or corporate building environments essential
Technical knowledge across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and carpentry trades
Proficiency in CMMS systems such as OMNI, INFOR or HotSOS
Strong leadership, task delegation and people management skills
Excellent planning, problem solving and fault diagnosis abilities
Clear communication skills with fluency in English additional languages advantageous
OHS or Health and Safety certification advantageous
Valid South African ID
Professional, reliable and disciplined work ethic
What You Will Do
Leadership and Supervision
Support the Chief Engineer in developing and managing the maintenance team
Supervise Foremen, Technicians, Electricians, Plumbers and Contractors
Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks and monitor productivity
Assist with scheduling, shift planning and staffing needs
Operational Oversight
Oversee all maintenance requests using the CMMS system
Respond promptly to emergency repairs and guest concerns
Inspect guest rooms, public areas and plant rooms to ensure equipment is operating safely
Verify work quality and ensure documentation is completed accurately
Preventive Maintenance
Manage the Preventive Maintenance Program to reduce downtime
Coordinate maintenance of chillers, boilers, pumps, fans, fire systems, generators and water heaters
Review PPM checklists and ensure adherence to SOPs
Energy and Utility Management
Support energy saving and sustainability initiatives
Track electricity, water and gas usage and identify inefficiencies
Recommend practical improvements to optimise utility performance
Safety, Compliance and Risk
Ensure compliance with OHS, SANS and fire regulations
Conduct safety audits, inspections and risk assessments
Enforce PPE and Lock out and Tag out procedures
Projects and Asset Management
Assist with refurbishments, capital projects and renovations
Oversee contractors and ensure minimal disruption to guests
Maintain asset registers, service logs and warranty documentation
Manage inventory of tools, parts and consumables
Team Development and Conduct
Mentor, train and support maintenance team members
Uphold grooming, attendance and behavioural standards
Promote accountability, teamwork and pride across all maintenance functions
Communication and Coordination
Liaise with Housekeeping, F and B, Front Office and Security
Attend operational, safety and planning meetings
Provide maintenance updates, reports and priorities to the Chief Engineer
