Hotel Manager

Position Purpose

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, and operational performance of the hotel. The incumbent will ensure exceptional guest experiences while driving financial performance, operational excellence, staff development, and compliance with all hospitality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a visible presence throughout the hotel.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of all hotel departments including:
• Front Office
• Reservations
• Housekeeping
• Food & Beverage
• Kitchen
• Maintenance
• Security
• Events & Conferencing (where applicable)
• Ensure smooth interdepartmental communication.
• Maintain 4-star service standards at all times.
• Conduct regular operational inspections.
• Implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Guest Experience

• Deliver exceptional guest service and ensure high guest satisfaction.
• Personally resolve escalated guest complaints.
• Monitor online reviews and implement service improvements.
• Develop initiatives to enhance guest loyalty and repeat business.
• Ensure all guest areas remain clean, safe, and well maintained.

Financial Management

• Prepare and manage annual operating budgets.
• Monitor revenue, occupancy, ADR and RevPAR.
• Control labour costs and departmental expenses.
• Review daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service.
• Manage procurement and supplier relationships.
• Ensure stock controls and asset management systems are maintained.

People Management

• Recruit, develop and retain high-performing employees.
• Lead and mentor departmental managers.
• Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Drive staff engagement and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation and company policies.
• Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures where required.

Sales & Business Development

• Work with Sales and Marketing to increase occupancy and revenue.
• Build relationships with corporate clients, travel agents and tourism partners.
• Identify opportunities to increase conferences, events and group bookings.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity.
• Support revenue management strategies to maximise profitability.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with:
• Occupational Health & Safety Act
• Food Safety requirements
• Fire Regulations
• Hotel licensing requirements
• Labour legislation
• POPIA
• Maintain hotel security standards.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programmes.
• Ensure all statutory inspections remain current.

Pay: R30 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
