Specific Skills

Knowledge

  • Deep knowledge of South African labour laws (e.g. BCEA, LRA, OHSA, EE Act, Skills Development Act)
  • Pastel Payroll

Experience

  • 5+ years in HR roles, at least 2 years in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Experience with HRS systems (e.g. SAP, SAGE VIP),
  • Experience working with blue-collar and technical workforce challenges (e.g., absenteeism, productivity issues, disciplinary matters).
  • Experience in HR Compliance Reporting
  • Experience in managing Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in running end to end weekly and monthly payroll
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing, employment contracts & disciplinary and grievance procedures

Responsible For
  • The HR Consultant supports the organization in implementing and maintaining best-practice human resource strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with South African labour legislation and operational needs.
  • The role focuses on workforce planning, labour relations, employee engagement, training & development, and ensuring compliance within a technical environment.

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Collaborate with line managers to identify staffing needs.
  • Advertise vacancies through job portals, agencies, or internal platforms.
  • Screen CVs, arrange interviews, Candidate feedback
  • Prepare offer letter and dummy pay slip
  • Prepare employee pack for loading on payroll
  • Manage on boarding of new staff member
  • Facilitate Technical Onboarding requirements with respective manager
  • Manage Vacancy List and communicate start dates to management

HR Compliance & Labour Law Adherence

  • Maintain compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Keep accurate employee records and contracts.
  • Implement policies and procedures aligned with company and legal standards.
  • Maintain compliance with SEIFSA & MIBFA
  • Compile SARS EMP201 Reports
  • Compile MIBFA Report
  • Submit UIF Return
  • Monthly retirement submission
  • Statutory: COIDA EE and Skills submissions -
  • Workman’s compensation, Manage injury reports and claims
  • Submit annual EE Reports (EEA2 and EEA4) to the Department of Labour

Health & Safety

  • Ensure Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) for Fedatech Engineering.
  • Ensure full compliance with the OHSA, Environmental Conservation Act, NEMA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain legal registers and ensure that all inspections, audits, and permits are up to date.
  • Facilitate and Manage risk management initiatives identified for Fedatech Engineering
  • Maintain a robust Health & Safety Management System
  • Maintain environmental management plans and drive compliance
  • Conduct HSE inductions for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents.
  • Ensure emergency plans are in place and regularly tested (e.g. fire drills, chemical spills).
  • Maintain first aid stations, firefighting equipment, and emergency evacuation maps.
  • Manage Health & Safety committee and meetings

Training & Skills Development

  • Identify training needs based on production or safety requirements.
  • Facilitate renewal of respective certifications (eg. Fork lift licenses, Fire Safety)
  • Organize training workshops and trade certification programs.
  • Coordinate skills development reporting for SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority).

Industrial Relations

  • Handle disciplinary hearings, grievances, and poor performance cases.
  • Ensure peaceful labour relations in alignment with bargaining council or MEIBC (if applicable).

Payroll Support & HR Admin

  • Manage employee benefits (pension/provident fund).
  • Add new employees and do terminations where applicable
  • Capture weekly and Monthly overtime hours in payroll
  • Run weekly and monthly payroll values
  • Print weekly and monthly payslips
  • Weekly and monthly payroll updates
  • Hand Payslips to respective manager for weekly wages and monthly salaries
  • Update leave records
  • Hand Out Leave Forms When Needed By Someone
  • Manage employee benefits (pension/provident fund).

Manage Time & Attendance

  • Download clock-in times
  • Follow-up on queries
  • Ensure all applicable leave forms are obtained

Organization Design

  • Maintain Organization structure according to Operating Model and management requests
  • Update JD's where necessary

Performance Management

  • Facilitate performance management process

Employee Engagement

  • Facilitate employee engagement initiatives
