HR Generalist - Johannesburg, Centurion

We’re looking for a hands-on and solutions-driven HR Generalist to support our Retail Operations in the Johannesburg region, based in Centurion.

This role is all about being close to the business. You’ll partner with Restaurant General Managers and operational leaders, providing practical HR support across our stores and helping our teams perform at their best.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Partner with Retail Operations – Provide day-to-day HR guidance and support to Restaurant General Managers and operational teams across your allocated stores.

Support recruitment & onboarding – Coordinate recruitment, interviews, appointments, onboarding and induction to ensure stores have the right people in place.

Manage employee relations – Guide managers through disciplinary processes, grievances, performance concerns and workplace conflict, and assist with CCMA and Department of Employment and Labour matters.

Take HR into the stores – Build strong relationships with operational teams, understand their people challenges and provide practical solutions that work in a retail environment.

Drive HR compliance – Ensure HR policies, procedures and labour legislation are consistently understood and applied across stores.

Support performance – Assist managers with performance management processes and help build a culture of accountability and high performance.

Develop our people – Support training, development and people initiatives that strengthen capability across our restaurant teams.

Improve how we work – Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and ways of working across Retail Operations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A Diploma in Human Resources or relevant HR qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ HR Generalist experience, ideally within retail, hospitality, restaurants, FMCG or another multi-site operational environment.
• Recruitment and onboarding experience.
• Practical employee relations experience, including disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Good working knowledge of South African labour legislation and CCMA processes.
• Confidence working directly with operational managers and employees.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to HR.
• Willingness to travel between stores as required.
