HR Manager

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to lead the generalist HR function for a retail operation based in Randburg. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys HR systems and processes as much as they enjoy working with people - someone who can troubleshoot a clocking system issue in the morning and handle an IR matter with the same confidence in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full generalist HR function across the business, including recruitment support, onboarding, employee records, and offboarding.
• Oversee and troubleshoot the clocking/time and attendance system, ensuring accurate data for payroll and reporting.
• Manage payroll-related HR administration, working closely with payroll to ensure accuracy and timeous processing.
• Administer and monitor leave management, ensuring policies are applied consistently and records are accurate.
• Handle IR (Industrial Relations) management, including disciplinary processes, grievances, CCMA matters, and ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement of HR processes and systems, identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and management, providing sound HR advice and support.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the business, from shop floor to senior management.
• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are up to date, compliant, and consistently applied.
• Support and champion an exceptional employee experience across the business.

Requirements

• At least 5 years' experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within the retail industry.
• Proven hands-on experience with clocking/time and attendance systems, payroll processes, leave management, and IR management.
• Tech-savvy with a genuine interest in working with HR systems - this role requires someone who enjoys the systems side of HR, not just tolerates it.
• Solid working knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA) and CCMA processes.
• Relevant HR qualification (Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or related field) advantageous.
