The role:
The role is responsible for assisting management in supporting employees through every phase of their service within the company. The role is also responsible for assisting with Employee Relations and recruitment. The incumbent may be required to be involved in ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Manages end-to-end HR activities on site
- Identifies and implements HR improvement initiatives with support from HR Analyst
- Provides counsel on the data, policies and frameworks available to support people-related critical decisions
- Coaches and advises line managers on facilitation of disciplinary cases as required
- Facilitates line management and contributes to the talent cycle that includes performance management, talent reviews, succession plans, career development planning and diversity and inclusion in collaboration with Training
- Guides line management on diagnostics to identify learning opportunities, high potential employees and candidates for organisation and leadership development
- Assists in the planning, executing, sponsoring and adopting of organisational design and cultural change initiatives
- Assists line in proactive workforce planning and organisation design to drive productivity improvements
- Engages Resourcing on upcoming resourcing requirements and long-term resource inputs to the strategic resourcing plan.
- Facilitates the annual performance and reward cycle and provides advice on remuneration reviews, pension and benefits, equity plans and mobility services
- Provides business context to Leadership team in the preparation and planning of changes to organisational design
- Provide an effective and efficient human resources (HR) administrative service to the clients / employees (including movements and promotions, onboarding, exit management, filing, query handling, invoice processing)
- Build strategic relationships with unions and key stakeholders
- Involvement and provide support to HR related Committees on the operation
- Provide advice, guidance and support to employees and line managers on a broad range of people related matters:
- HR issues including the interpretation of policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment
- Managing discipline and grievances
- Resourcing and workforce planning
- Effective utilisation of the performance review process
- Manage and facilitate the handling of all internal employee discipline by ensuring that all grievances and disciplinary actions are acted upon according to policies, procedures and standards:
- Keep accurate and complete records of internal disciplinary cases
- Statistical and Governance Reporting including:
- Transformation reporting
- Employee Relations reporting
- Provide effective staff movement & recruitment services to line management through conducting recruitment activities aligned to the recruitment process: Liaising with line managers and Head Office.
- Conducting interviews
- Prepare documents necessary for staff movements including promotions, transfer and secondments
- Effective change and communication process management:
- Provide effective management service to operation/ business unit
- Ensure that operational specific communication processes are effectively implemented and managed
Requirements:
- Relevant Post Matric, Diploma/Degree/National Diploma in Human Resources, occupationally directed ETD Practice or similar field. Alternatively, minimum of 10 years’ experience with proven track record of good performance.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Human Resources, of which at least 2-3 years should be at a management level (either in managing a HR sub-function or major section)
- Experience in talent management and resourcing
- Experience in project management an HR related projects that included organizational transformation or change management
- Experience in dealing with trade unions and ER experience
- Solid knowledge of mining and other relevant legislation incl: Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act; Mine Health and Safety Act; BBBEE Act, 2003; Minerals Codes of Good Practices; Mining Charter; Labour Relations Act, 1995; Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 1997; Employment Equity Act, 1998; Skills Development (and Levies) Act, 1998; Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993
- Strong customer service orientation
- Knowledge of HR theories and principles, and benchmarks
- Sound knowledge of HR policies and procedures and legislative requirements in terms of compliance
- Knowledge of talent management and resourcing as well as HR reporting
- Stakeholder Management Skills
- Conflict management skills
- Project management skills
- Report writing skills
- Computer literacy skills (MS Office – specifically MS Excel)
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- Strong knowledge of South African Labour Laws and CCMA procedures
- Experience in SAP/SAGE
- Experience in Skycom
- CCMA experience
