Job description

Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organisation supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. MatCH is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following position under a project aimed at Achieving and Sustaining HIV/TB Epidemic Control in the KwaZulu Natal Province

Location: Ugu District

Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract ending 31 December 2026

Main purpose of the job

The incumbent will focus on facility governance, Infection Prevention and Control, Quality Improvement cycles and cascade improvement to embed sustainability and strengthen Department of Health systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and mentorship to the District Department of Health on facility governance and IPC.
  • Participate in facility and sub-district meetings on Health Systems Strengthening.
  • Lead Quality Improvement including conducting site visits and performing assessments to evaluate progress achieved in implementation of project plans.
  • Support the development and implementation of Transition Readiness Tools and Assessments.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to District Management Teams and support OP Nerve Centres.
  • Ensure that all project reports are completed and submitted in accordance with work-plans and donor requirements.
  • Participate in strategic meetings with Embedded District Support Teams and Multi-Disciplinary Teams and other stakeholders.
  • Identify topics for case studies and success stories, and support staff in developing these outputs.
  • Conduct facility profiles and staff skills audits

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

· Diploma in Nursing or Equivalent

· 4 years’ experience in primary health care

· Management experience and proven project management abilities in the design, administration, management and implementation of public health programmes, including supervision of staff and reporting

· Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • Experience in donor funded organisation and with PEPFAR.
  • A good understanding of the South African public health system, including national and provincial health policies and management structures.
  • Skills to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders·
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to be deadline-driven
