Job description

Purpose

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives, acting as a trusted advisor to management and employees within the BPO. This role provides strategic and operational HR support across workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and talent development. The HRBP ensures compliance with South African labour legislation while fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to understand operational needs and provide HR solutions that support organisational objectives.
  • Drive workforce planning initiatives, ensuring the right HR Support is in place to meet business demands.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, appraisals, and talent reviews.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with South African labour legislation and company standards.
  • Deliver HR analytics and insights to management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support learning and development initiatives, including leadership development and succession planning.
  • Partner with managers to drive employee engagement, retention, and diversity initiatives.
  • Support and represent the brand during employee relation cases (E.g. pack and representation support during CCMA cases)
  • Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, and POPIA.
  • Act as a change agent, supporting organisational transformation and communication strategies.
  • Mentor and coach managers on HR best practices and leadership skills.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and reporting tools.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance compliance, employee needs, and business objectives.
  • Coaching and facilitation skills to support leadership and employee development.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field (NQF Level 7 minimum).
  • 3-4 years of experience in HR, with at least 1-3 years in a business partner or advisory role.
  • Proven experience with Employee Relations.
  • Proven experience within a BPO and contact centre environment is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of South African labour laws, dispute resolution mechanisms, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in HR policy development, workforce planning, and organisational design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations cases and provide strategic HR advice.

Authority & reporting line

  • The HR Business Partner will be responsible for delivering HR strategies, reports, and insights across business units, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • They will report directly to the Senior HR Business Partner.
