Job description
The Human Resources Specialist IV supports business leaders and employees by delivering strategic and operational HR services across one or more business units or functions. The role provides guidance on employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, talent management, and HR policies while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and organizational standards.
Working in partnership with managers and HR Centers of Excellence, the HR Specialist IV helps implement people programs, resolve workplace issues, support organizational initiatives, and contribute to a positive employee experience. This role also supports HR projects, change initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
Employee Relations
- Provide guidance and support in resolving employee concerns and workplace issues through fair, objective, and timely investigations.
- Conduct workplace investigations and fact-finding activities as appropriate.
- Advise managers on the consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
- Support the resolution of employee relations matters through coaching, mediation, and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Legal and other functions as needed on employment-related matters.
Performance & Talent Support
- Support leaders in executing performance management processes, including coaching, performance improvement, and development planning.
- Conduct career development discussions and help employees understand available growth opportunities within the organization.
- Assist managers with talent development and employee recognition initiatives.
Employee Engagement
- Partner with leaders to implement employee engagement initiatives and action plans based on engagement surveys and organizational feedback.
- Support activities that promote an inclusive, collaborative, and positive workplace culture.
- Assist in planning and supporting employee engagement events and organizational initiatives.
HR Programs & Policy Implementation
- Support the implementation of HR programs, policy updates, organizational changes, and business initiatives.
- Communicate HR policies, procedures, and program changes to employees and leaders.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices across assigned business areas.
Data & Reporting
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret HR metrics such as attrition, engagement, and workforce trends to support business decision-making.
- Provide leaders with meaningful insights and recommendations based on HR data.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation and reporting.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Coordinate with HR Centers of Excellence and shared services to resolve employee and business issues.
- Escalate complex HR matters to appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, committees, and projects as the HR representative.
- Document meeting outcomes and support the execution of agreed action plans.
Learning & Development
- Deliver HR orientation sessions, manager training, and other learning initiatives related to people management and HR policies.
- Support the onboarding and development of new people leaders.
- Share HR best practices and contribute to capability-building initiatives across the organization.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support HR projects and organizational initiatives as a project team member or workstream lead.
- Recommend improvements to HR policies, processes, and programs that enhance employee experience and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to change management initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.
Required skills + qualities (technical):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Human Resources and Development, or any related field.
- Yellow Belt Six Sigma Certified
- 5-7 years HR experience or at least three (3) HR years in a supervisory/managerial capacity
- Proficient knowledge and subject matter expertise in all Human Resources processes such as talent acquisition and management, leadership development and executive coaching, organization design, workforce planning, performance management, team development, culture management, employee relations, discipline and discharge, compensation and benefits, learning management, legal compliance.
- Have skills in the following: Project Management, Presentation and Facilitation Skills, Effective Meeting Management, Change Management and Behavioral Interviewing Skills. Well versed with legal requirements for handling employee cases. CCMA cases, IR.
