Human Resources Officer

Location: Alrode, Alberton, Gauteng

Employment Type: Permanent

Job Purpose

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Human Resources Officer to provide comprehensive HR support within a fast-paced transport and logistics environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering end-to-end HR services, ensuring compliance with labour legislation, NBCRFLI requirements, company policies, and supporting operational management across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment and selection process from advertising vacancies to onboarding new employees.
  • Prepare employment contracts, job descriptions, letters, and all HR-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files.
  • Coordinate employee inductions and probation reviews.
  • Support payroll by ensuring all employee movements and changes are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Manage leave, attendance, timekeeping, and general HR administration.
  • Provide guidance and support to line management on HR policies and labour legislation.
  • Handle disciplinary processes, grievances, poor performance, absenteeism, incapacity, and misconduct cases.
  • Represent the company during disciplinary enquiries where required.
  • Coordinate and monitor CCMA and Bargaining Council matters in conjunction with management and external representatives.
  • Liaise with recognised trade unions and maintain constructive union relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), Skills Development Act (SDA), POPIA, and all other relevant labour legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with NBCRFLI Main Agreement and related industry requirements.
  • Assist with Department of Employment and Labour inspections and HR audits.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives and maintain training records.
  • Compile HR reports and provide HR support to management.
  • Assist with Employment Equity, Workplace Skills Plans, and other statutory reporting.
  • Support employee wellness and engagement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an HR Officer or HR Generalist.
  • Previous experience in the transport, logistics, or fuel distribution industry will be highly advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of NBCRFLI agreements and processes.
  • Experience working in a unionised environment.
  • Exposure to CCMA and Bargaining Council dispute resolution processes.
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Experience conducting disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using HRIS, payroll, and time and attendance systems.
  • Valid driver’s license
