HVAC Technician

You will live and work in the Netherlands on a Dutch employment contract with a Dutch salary. We arrange the residence and work permit, your flight and your landing, see "What we arrange for you" below.

For our client, a leading Dutch technical services group, we are looking for HVAC and refrigeration service technicians for their industrial division. You will maintain and troubleshoot industrial HVAC and refrigeration installations at plants in the food, energy and process industries, the kind of systems you already know from South African cold stores, abattoirs, dairies, wineries and process plants.

You will work from a service van, on your own and in a small team, in direct contact with the client on site. No two days are the same: planned maintenance in the morning, a breakdown call in the afternoon.

Your work:

• Preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial HVAC and refrigeration installations
• Fault finding on refrigeration circuits, controls and electrical components
• Inspections, measurements and partial commissioning of systems
• Working within safety and F-gas regulations, and keeping your job records in order
• Advising the client on site on the technical condition of their installation
• Standby / call-out rotation, by agreement

What we are looking for

• Trade Test / Red Seal in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, or a Red Seal Millwright or Electrician with solid refrigeration experience
• Registered with SAQCC Gas as an Authorised Refrigeration Practitioner (or eligible to register)
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration and air conditioning (not domestic split units only)
• Sound electrical knowledge; experience with controls and instrumentation is a strong plus
• Valid driver's licence (code B / EB)
• Fluent in Afrikaans and in English. Afrikaans is a requirement for this role because it is closely related to Dutch. On a Dutch customer site the toolbox talks, work instructions and safety briefings are in Dutch, and Afrikaans speakers typically reach Dutch level B1–B2 within about a year. That is why our client asked for Afrikaans specifically.
• Age: 29 or younger at the date of the permit application. This position is filled under the Dutch highly skilled migrant scheme (kennismigrant), specific rules are connected to age with this work permit.
• A valid South African passport, and a clean disciplinary and criminal record
• Willing to relocate to THE NETHERLANDS, with your partner and children if you have them
• You do not need a Dutch F-gas certificate yet. Your SAQCC registration is not valid in the Netherlands, so we pay for and arrange your Dutch F-gas Category 1 certification.

What we offer

• R 81 700 gross per month, excluding the 8% holiday allowance that is paid out on top of it once a year. Including the holiday allowance this comes to roughly R 1,06 million per year.
• A Dutch employment contract, 38-hour working week
• 25 days annual leave plus 13 ADV days (additional paid days off): 38 paid days off per year
• Dutch pension scheme and Dutch health insurance
• Paid Dutch F-gas Category 1 certification, and further technical training after that
• Dutch language lessons, paid by us
• Long-term work: the Dutch energy transition and industrial maintenance market has a structural shortage of refrigeration technicians

What we arrange for you

This is the part most people worry about, so we take it off your hands:

• Your residence and work permit. We submit the application and pay the government fees. Your partner and children are included in the application, and your partner may work in the Netherlands without needing a separate work permit.
• Your flight to the Netherlands.
• Assistiance and guidance Housing on arrival
• Your registration in the Netherlands: municipal registration, BSN (tax and social security number), bank account, health insurance, DigiD.
• Your F-gas certification and any further certificates the work requires.
• Dutch lessons for you, and we help your partner get started too.
• Schools for your children, and practical help in your first months from someone who has done this before.
• Recognition of your qualifications where that is needed.

You never pay us anything. Candidates pay no fee to Glenso at any stage, not for the application, not for the permit, not for placement.
