Job description
IC Mask Layout Engineer: (Accelerated Global Fellowship)
Location: South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt and Ghana (Onsite and Hybrid)
Duration: 9–12 Months Intensive Training → Direct Transition to Global Contracts
The Opportunity
Join Africa’s first semiconductor firm and bridge the gap between regional talent and Silicon Valley innovation. This is not just a training program; it is a high-octane career accelerator. We are seeking elite engineers to undergo 9 to 12 months of intensive semiconductor design specialisation, preparing you to join advanced integrated circuit (IC) projects for the world’s most demanding tech giants.
Upon successful completion, you will be deployed as a IC Mask Layout Engineer on global contracts, working with cross-functional teams across AI, Automotive, Telecommunications, Healthcare, Agriculture, Industrial Automation, and IoT, among other industries.
Role overview:
Transform circuit schematics into high-performance, manufacturable silicon layouts that exceed rigorous DRC/LVS and parasitic constraints.
What You Will Learn and Do
- Custom Layout Mastery: Precision execution of common-centroid, interdigitation, symmetry, shielding, and guard-ring techniques.
- Physical Verification: Expert-level DRC/LVS debugging, DRC mitigation strategies, and post-processing/metal-fill flows.
- Schematic Interpretation: Seamless mapping of circuit intent to silicon, including custom block floorplanning and strategic pin placement.
- Parasitic & LDE Awareness: Proactive management of routing parasitics, coupling, and Layout-Dependent Effects (LDE) to ensure post-layout performance.
- EDA Proficiency: Mastery of Synopsys, Cadence Virtuoso and sign-off flows (e.g., Siemens Calibre).
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: BSc. Honours in Electrical Engineering, Maths, Technical Drawing, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
- Experience: 2+ years of industry experience with a focus on physical design or circuit fundamentals.
- Mindset: Extreme attention to detail and a "clean-on-arrival" sign-off philosophy.
Why Join Us?
- Silicon Valley Immersion: Direct exposure to the world’s most advanced hardware ecosystems and mentorship from industry veterans.
- Competitive Compensation: Paid training period with a significant salary progression upon project placement.
Come and join Africa’s first semiconductor company.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Learnership, Graduate
