Siqalo Foods is seeking an Imports/Exports Controller to join their Spreads Division . The role will be based in Boksburg and will report to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager .

The Imports/Exports Controller will be responsible to manage and control all import and export activities, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods across international borders while meeting customer regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Degree in Marketing/Business Science/Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years operational experience in Internation Logistics, Custom & Trade Compliance, Incoterms & Internation Trade Regulation.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of imports/Exports into and out of South Africa
  • Understanding of the import/export clearing document process.
  • Understanding of the South African State Veterinary process.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the Export Department’s admin requirements.
  • Respond to export enquiries timeously - filter and screen export enquries as per agreed criteria and assess which business is worth pursuing and which is not, followed up by communication to the customer and forward others on to the relevant Country Manager.
  • Facilitate internal communications between Export Unit, Manufacturing, Marketing, Customer Marketing and Planning ensuring alignment to the customer requirements (e.g. Attend Comms Meetings and provide feedback to Country Managers).
  • Obtain Export sales information daily and monthly and distribute to Export Team.
  • Assist in monitoring performance of Export Administrators re: meeting timelines, completeness, accuracy and meeting export requirements for the foreign countries.
  • Monitor daily Export Administrative performance and facilitate improvements where necessary.
  • Engage with Vector Logistics Debtors in the coding and processing of new accounts.
  • Process and track all claims emanating from various Agents relating to promotions, deals, stock issues etc. Investigate causes, calculate correct costing and confirm values being claimed.
  • Engage with third parties including Vector Logistics in solving problems surrounding logistic issues i.e. transport, stock, inspections, vet requirements, and country requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality Control to ensure that plants are Export compliant.
  • Work closely with Marketing and plants to ensure that country specific packaging and language requirements are met.
  • Travel to RCL plants and offices locally and visit foreign countries where required.
  • Arrange registration of various export Licenses, e.g. Bureau Veritas, SGS, SARS, Customs & Excise.
  • Work closely with Freight Forwarders, Transporters, Clearing Agents, Vector Logistics to ensure seamless route to market.
  • Develop and maintain an Export product catalogue and Export materials as agreed with Country Managers.
  • Drive Sales and Customer Relations outside of Key focus areas through locally based Exporters.
  • Provide Customer support relating to deals, Point of sale and promotions in Key focus countries.
  • Provide sales forecasts as directed by Country Managers taking cognizance of country promotional grids.
  • Maintain Master Export Pricing file and advise Country Managers and Customers timeously of price changes.
  • Ensure that pricing and deals are captured into the system and communicated.
  • Interrogate Daily Outstanding order list and investigate delays and update Country Managers.
  • Assist Country managers to prepare for meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain SKU works library to ensure pack images are up to date and appear online and ensure all new product listings are inputted into the system. Deal with customer queries for pack shots, artwork etc.
  • Customer quality complaints: ensure appropriate procedure is in place, that complaints are timeously resolved and communicated to customers and co-ordinate recall procedures.
  • Engage with Customer marketing and Marketing as directed by Country Managers to obtain information and materials.
