ABOUT THE ROLE
Job Purpose
Responsible for managing the end-to-end Inbound import process for finished goods, from origin through customs clearance to warehouse delivery. Key stakeholders include 3PL’s, Sales Team and Logistics and Supply chain management team members.
Responsibilities:
Container Import process
Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines and transporters to ensure timely movement of shipments.
Monitor shipment status, customs clearance, delivery milestones and ETAs, providing regular updates to Sales and internal stakeholders.
Ensure accurate and timely Import related documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and related documentation.
Coordinate with warehouses to ensure timely receipt, accurate stock booking and resolution of quantity or documentation discrepancies.
Identify and resolve shipment delays, clearance issues and operational exceptions, escalating potential supply risks where required.
Contribute to process improvements, system implementations and supply-chain projects, including WMS, SAP and freight initiatives. Process owner for Inbound Imports on WMS/ SAP
Avoid Demurrage Costs through liaising with 3PL’s and managing Import schedules
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Inbound Import function to support cost and resource effectiveness
In depth knowledge and understanding of SARS Customs regulation and provide guidance/ input to ensure compliance and cost effectiveness
Reporting
Reporting (Power BI)- Container report (Weekly Basis)
Daily KPI tracking to be published
Attend to customer / Sales delivery queries
Administration
Prepare invoices for MIGO and MIRO
SAP system updates on master data
Daily processing and filling of documentation i.e. POD’s
WMS Super user
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education, Master, other certification:
Relevant Degree or Diploma in Logistics/ Supply Chain Management/ Customs
Experience (years):
Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in logistics / outbound planning/ Import and customs
Technical Skills:
Computer Literate: MS Word, Outlook & Excel (Intermediate level), Power BI
In depth understanding Logistical functions (Transportation / Distribution/ Warehouse)
SARS customs regulations
SAP experience advantageous
WMS experience advantageous
