Job description
We are looking for an independent, objective and suitably qualified human capital governance professional to serve as an independent member of Medihelp's Human Resources Committee. As Independent Member of the Human Resources Committee, you will provide specialist oversight and guidance on human capital and remuneration governance, trustee nomination processes, organisational culture and ethics, ESG and sustainability, employment equity, workplace governance, corporate social investment, stakeholder oversight, and human resources policy and governance.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Independent Member serves as a member of the Human Resources Committee for a period of one year and reports functionally to the Board of Trustees through the Chairperson of the Human Resources Committee.
The Committee functions as a sub-committee of the Board of Trustees and remains accountable to the Board.
REMUNERATION
The remuneration will consist of a market-related fee for each meeting attended, with additional compensation for supplementary meetings or services required. There are approximately three meetings per year.
REQUIREMENTS
A recognised qualification in human resources management, industrial psychology, labour law, organisational development, governance, business management or social and ethics governance.
At least 10 years' senior-level experience in human resources, remuneration governance, organisational development, labour relations, workforce governance, ESG governance or executive leadership.
Previous service on a human resources, remuneration or governance committee, board or comparable oversight structure.
Experience in medical schemes, healthcare funding, financial services or another regulated industry will be advantageous.
Additional credentials in remuneration, governance, ESG, organisational culture, labour relations or leadership development will be advantageous.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Strong human capital governance capability and an understanding of remuneration governance and workforce sustainability.
Sound knowledge of labour legislation, employment equity and workplace governance practices.
Understanding of ESG, organisational sustainability, culture, ethics and stakeholder governance.
Strategic thinking, analytical ability, sound judgement and independent decision-making.
The ability to challenge constructively and objectively, supported by high ethical standards, integrity and confidentiality.
