Industrial Electrician
Location: Western Cape
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Pipe Manufacturing
Shift: [Day / Night / Rotating]
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team at our pipe manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical systems and production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective electrical maintenance on production and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults and equipment breakdowns.
- Install, maintain, and repair motors, control panels, sensors, contactors, relays, overloads, VSDs/VFDs, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and electrical control circuits.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Conduct electrical inspections and identify potential equipment failures and safety risks.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, upgrades, and modifications of production equipment.
- Perform electrical testing and ensure equipment meets applicable safety requirements.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Work closely with Millwrights, maintenance personnel, production teams, and contractors.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report completed work.
- Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and electrical safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Requirements
- Qualified/registered Industrial Electrician or equivalent electrical trade qualification.
- Experience in a manufacturing, steel, pipe, or heavy industrial environment is advantageous.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with industrial motors, control circuits, VSDs/VFDs, sensors, and electrical panels.
- PLC troubleshooting experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and instrumentation will be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or standby when required.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
