Job description

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative in a contract position to drive new business and expand existing accounts across our POS, payment terminal, and retail technology solutions. This role is responsible for prospecting, qualifying leads, running product demos, managing the sales pipeline, and closing deals with customers in retail, restaurant, hospitality, grocery, and convenience-store segments.

The ideal candidate is a confident communicator with strong consultative selling skills, a track record of hitting quota in an inside sales or SDR/BDR environment, and the ability to explain technical products clearly to non-technical buyers. This position is for the US and UK markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and qualify inbound and outbound leads through phone, email, LinkedIn, and CRM-driven outreach.
  • Conduct discovery calls to understand customer needs, business goals, and technical requirements.
  • Deliver product demonstrations of POS software, payment terminals, and related hardware and services.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline in the CRM, ensuring accurate forecasting and clean data.
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and pricing options, and negotiate terms to close deals.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for calls, meetings, opportunities, and revenue.
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, follow-up on MQLs, and provide feedback on lead quality.
  • Coordinate with technical support, implementation, and payment-processing teams to ensure a smooth customer onboarding experience.
  • Handle objections professionally and address pricing, feature, or competitive concerns.
  • Follow up consistently with prospects across the buying cycle, maintaining accurate notes and next steps.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing customer base.
  • Stay current on product updates, industry trends, and competitive positioning.
  • Follow company standards for customer engagement, data security, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Matric required; a diploma or bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of inside sales, SDR/BDR, telesales, or B2B sales experience.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets in a KPI-driven environment.
  • Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls and running structured sales cadences.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills with a professional phone presence.
  • Ability to explain technical products in simple, benefits-focused language.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and objection-handling skills.
  • Experience using a CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or similar) to manage pipeline and activity.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.
  • Willingness to work US-aligned hours as part of a rotating schedule.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior sales experience in POS, payments, SaaS, fintech, retail technology, or hospitality tech.
  • Experience selling into US and UK or international markets.
  • Familiarity with sales engagement tools such as Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, ZoomInfo, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Knowledge of payment processing, merchant services, EMV, or PCI compliance concepts.
  • Understanding of retail, restaurant, grocery, or convenience-store operations.

Work Environment

This position is office-based in Cape Town (no remote or hybrid).
