Job Description This role works within the IT Software Asset Management (SAM) team and supports the management, analysis, and maintenance of software inventory across the organisation. The role contributes to software licence compliance activities by assisting with data analysis, reporting, inventory accuracy, and the ongoing maintenance of SAM-related information.
The role provides operational support and advice on the management of software assets, including in-house, external, SaaS, and cloud-based solutions. It works closely with the Software Licence Procurement team, business service owners, IT teams, and relevant stakeholders to support effective software asset tracking, reporting, and compliance management.
- Support the enterprise-wide Software Asset Management platform, including data maintenance, reporting, and operational support.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports relating to licensed applications, SaaS usage, cloud consumption, compliance, and software inventory.
- Support SAM tooling activities, including device inventory coverage, data validation, and analysis.
- Apply SAM best practices and contribute to the improvement of processes, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Analyse how cloud and virtualisation technologies may impact software licence positions and escalate risks or findings where required.
- Monitor SaaS application inventory to support cost optimisation, version control, and the identification of unused or underutilised applications.
- Maintain accurate asset records by reviewing, updating, and validating software and hardware asset information.
- Prepare reports and insights for the Software Licence Management Procurement team, business service owners, and stakeholders to support assessments, planning, and decision-making.
- Create and maintain internal process documentation relating to SAM activities.
- Support the maintenance of a transparent and regularly updated inventory of SaaS software and licensed applications.
- Work with Finance and IT Operations teams to provide information that supports cloud licensing consumption tracking against licensing models and budget expectations.
Minimum Requirements
- Approximately 2–3 years’ experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, software licensing, or a related IT operations environment.
- Working knowledge of software licensing agreements, entitlements, terms, and conditions.
- Experience using IT Asset Management systems, discovery tools, or platforms such as ServiceNow.
- Understanding of software licensing models, including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, subscriptions, virtual environments, and cloud-based licensing.
- Good data management, analysis, reporting, and documentation skills.
- ITIL Foundation certification would be advantageous.
- Exposure to Agile or SAFe ways of working would be advantageous.
- Cloud fundamentals certification, such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of cloud licence management would be advantageous.
- ITIL Foundations V4 Certification would be advantageous
- Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro would be advantageous
