The role
You'll own the hardware side of every Kudu AI unit: specifying, building, testing and supporting the server machines.

What you'll do

• Specify and source components from South African suppliers, balancing cost, stock and compatibility
• Assemble, stress-test and burn in AI servers built
• Design the physical build for lab, rack and field units, including cooling, power, UPS and enclosures
• Connect sensors and equipment such as thermocouples, gas and dew-point meters, cameras.
• Write clear build guides and checklists so TVET-trained technicians can assemble and maintain units
• Install and support units on site, and diagnose and replace faulty hardware

What you'll need

• A degree or diploma in computer engineering.
• Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting PCs and servers
• A good understanding of GPUs, power supplies, thermal design and component compatibility
• Comfort working in Linux
• Experience connecting sensors or industrial equipment to computers

Nice to have

• Experience with rack or rugged field equipment
• Microcontroller or embedded work (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi)
• Experience with solar or battery backup systems
• Familiarity with lab or industrial safety practices
