Job description
Minimum Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar Internal Sales or Personal Lines/Commercial Sales role within the short-term insurance industry.
- Relevant insurance qualification.
- Regulatory Examination (RE5) completed.
- Class of Business completed.
- Sound knowledge of FAIS legislation and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate and manage new business opportunities from referrals, leads and existing client relationships.
- Obtain quotations from multiple insurers through effective market approaches.
- Compare quotations, policy benefits, exclusions and pricing to identify the most suitable solution for each client.
- Present quotations professionally and provide clients with appropriate advice based on their needs and risk profile.
- Ensure all compliance requirements are met before policy inception, including FAIS disclosures, Record of Advice and all required documentation.
- Prepare and submit complete new business files in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Upload and maintain all compliance documentation and new business files on the company’s document management systems.
- Maintain and update the new business and sales tracking spreadsheets.
- Liaise with insurers to negotiate terms, obtain additional quotations and resolve underwriting queries.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and convert opportunities into successful sales.
- Ensure policies are issued accurately and within agreed service levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and business partners.
- Work closely with portfolio managers and other internal departments to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Ensure accurate data capturing and maintenance of client records.
- Meet and exceed monthly sales and conversion targets.
- Participate in product training and remain up to date with insurer products, market trends and regulatory changes.
- Assist with ad hoc sales and business development initiatives as required.
