About the Role
At iStore, we are passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences and helping our teams grow with confidence, skill and product knowledge.
We are looking for a Store Trainer to support, coach and develop our retail teams across 2–3 iStore locations. This is a hands-on, floor-based role that focuses on building capability, improving sales confidence, driving customer experience, and ensuring that our teams are ready to deliver the iStore experience every day.
The Store Trainer will play a key role in new starter onboarding, ongoing sales coaching, product training, customer demos, and training compliance. This role is ideal for someone who loves people, enjoys teaching and coaching others, and has a strong passion for Apple products, retail, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Training & Product Demos
You will plan and deliver engaging customer training sessions, including iStore Meets and group demos, helping customers get the most out of their Apple products and iStore services.
You will also proactively identify opportunities on the sales floor to engage customers through short, impactful product demonstrations.
- New Starter Onboarding
You will support new team members through their in-store induction journey, ensuring they complete the relevant learning content, understand the sales process, and are confident before being signed off as ready.
This includes coaching new starters on the floor, assessing their progress, and being a supportive point of contact during their onboarding period.
- Sales Coaching & Team Development
You will observe live customer interactions, identify coaching opportunities, and help sales consultants improve their product knowledge, selling skills and customer engagement.
You will coach the team on the ACE methodology and create a culture of continuous learning and improvement in-store.
- Training Compliance & Reporting
You will track training completion across LMS, Sales Coach and Apple training programmes, ensuring that all required learning is completed on time. You will also prepare monthly updates on training progress, compliance, competency development, customer experience trends and sales performance.
- New Product Launch Readiness
During new product launches, you will help prepare and energise the store teams by ensuring they have the right product knowledge, positioning and confidence to deliver an excellent launch experience.
- Floor Support
When training is not scheduled and the store requires support, you will assist on the sales floor, model best-practice selling behaviour and support the team during busy trading periods.
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Matric / Grade 12
- At least 2 years’ experience in a retail sales environment
- Experience in consumer tech or Apple products would be highly advantageous
- Experience facilitating training, coaching sessions, group sessions or workshops
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience using learning platforms or LMS systems
- A good understanding of structured sales methodologies, ideally ACE or similar
- Own transport, as travel between stores will be required
- Advantageous Experience
It would be beneficial if you have:
- Strong knowledge of Apple products and the iStore product and services range
- Experience coaching, mentoring or training others in a retail environment
- Apple achievement of Champion+ or higher
- A qualification in Training, Education, HR or a related field
- Exposure to NPS, customer feedback or customer experience measurement tools
Key Skills and Attributes

- Proactive and able to spot training opportunities on the sales floor
- Organised and able to manage a training calendar across multiple stores
- A strong communicator who can give honest, constructive feedback
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment
- Analytical enough to interpret training data, CX scores and performance trends
- Able to adapt their coaching style to different people and learning needs
- Energetic, hands-on and willing to support the store team where needed
Working Conditions
This is a floor-based retail role, and the majority of your time will be spent in-store, coaching, observing, training and supporting the team. The role requires regular travel between assigned iStore locations, and flexibility will be needed during peak trading periods, new product launches and training windows
